Why a new blog?

November 21, 2009 · 12 comments

Hi, I’m Su Butcher, and welcome to my new blog.

Many visitors to this site in the early days may be familiar with my blog about architects, Just Practising, and with my recent experience speaking to a group of senior architects and construction professionals at the RIBA about taking your Network Online.

As a result of my talk I’ve been approached by more and more professional people in the last month, asking me:

How do I get started online?

What is Social Media and why should I bother?

Should I use Twitter?

How do I recommend someone on Linkedin?

And other similar questions.

This blog is the place to come to help answer such questions. Over the coming months I will be sharing rsouces, discussing strategy and explaining tools which I hope will help you find your feet online.

But its not just for ‘newbies’, we were all new once, and a blog is not a monologue, more a conversation. So I’m inviting those of you who visit who have experience of networking online to share your views, experiences and issues with the media here, and we’ll all learn something.

So welcome to ‘Just Professionals’, please muck in and I hope you find it useful.

Su – sounds like an interesting concept. Even for those professionals who are already using social media it is always useful to have a different perspective and see what others are doing. Some case studies on how people are using Twitter would be helpful?

Hello Jon, and welcome to the blog.
Case Studies is a great idea – it gives people the opportunity to see the key aspects of someone’s use of the platform and what they are learning from it.
I’m onto it!

Like the new blog Su, look forward to catching up with everything you post. Like the idea of case studies too – there are still too many people out there who don’t really get what social media can do for them!
