Thanks to Rhianne Griffiths, one of my email subscribers (did you know you can subscribe via email? Just submit your email address in the box up the top right of any page).

Rhianne asked to borrow the screencast to embed elsewhere - for example on a blog, and yes you are welcome to do this. Please give me a credit (Su Butcher) and reference this website (Just Professionals) and a link to this page (http://www.justprofessionals.net/2010/03/screencast-twitter-why-people-give-up/)
Thanks!

Absolutely agree Su - twitter don't make it easy for themselves to promote buy-in for newbies. The Hootsuite and Tweetdeck layouts make much more sense.

For some reason Firefox for mac doesn't get on with Screenr, youtube version worked fine though. Safari happy with it too :o)

It is really boring reading streams of other people's ads isn't it?
The challenge is to write something of interest to your target audience. Then its not just an ad, its a useful ad.
This is why broadcast marketing doesn’t work on twitter – its an engagement tool. People who use it successfully are searching for conversations of interest, they are dynamically accessing the stream, not just letting it wash over them.
More about this here:
Twitter: No-one Reads Everything you Say (and that’s OK)
And here:
Why don’t I get any business from Twitter?

En, quite pertinent topic. The most people who keep silent for the long time don't know the potentials of opportunities Twitter can bring to them, so they are unwilling to spend time to study how to increase their followers. Another key point I think this happens is that above 80% of activive Twitter users are using or partly using Twitter as one promotion tools because it can bring traffic to their sites, affiliate programs or businesses in possibility. In that case, there must be tons of ads tweet messages appearing on Twitter every sec, making other users sick and don't want to post anymore.
